Recognition of our member Lluís Souto for his work at the SBB and the first lecture of the BluesXTu Cycle

On Wednesday, June 3rd, the “BluesXTu” series of musical lectures kicked off at the Tecla Sala Library. The first one, titled “Blues in Black and White,” was presented by the great writer and journalist Manuel López Poy, who spoke about the publishing world and the blues. The lecture was accompanied by live music from Hoochie Coochie Sonia on vocals, Joan Ventosa on piano, and Lluís Souto on harmonica.

Before the lecture began, the SBB wanted to recognize and express gratitude for Lluís Souto’s magnificent work of over 10 years in the management and administration of the SBB. He was presented and received a small gift consisting of three customized harmonicas, personalized by the master craftsman Roy Harpman and arranged by MA Lonesome and David Sánchez.
Below is the transcript of the presentation speech given by Roser, along with a couple of photos.

“I am no car expert, but I know that if a car has no gas, it simply won’t run. The same thing happens if the clutch or the battery fails, or if it runs out of oil, it won’t move, and we won’t get anywhere. On the other hand, if it has fuel, the parts respond, and everything is well-oiled, it takes us to discover new horizons and beautiful, distant landscapes that we never thought we would reach one day.

The exact same thing happens with the Societat de Blues de Barcelona: every single member is a part of this car, contributing with their grain of sand, their time, and their enthusiasm to ensure that this project completes twenty years of life and keeps growing.
Within the team that makes everything roll so smoothly, there has been one person who, without making a fuss, has always been on the front line. With his discreet dedication and commitment, he has ensured that the association’s gears work perfectly. He has done an impeccable and serious job over countless hours, helping our organization achieve the prestige it holds today, both in Catalonia and throughout the rest of Spain.
After ten years of intense effort on the front line, he has now stepped aside, but he remains there to lend a hand whenever we need him. Today, we want to recognize all his hard work and thank him with a small token of our appreciation. I am sure you already know who I am talking about… Our colleague Lluís Souto. Thank you so much, Lluís, for always being there and for helping us grow!”
