The Barcelona Blues Society (SBB) is a non-profit cultural association that promotes the blues knowledge, its development and the increase of audiences at the live concerts and other activities related with this music.
What are SBB goals?
- Be a meeting-point for the blues passionates who love this music.
- Preserve and promote the blues as a genuine expression of the Black American’s culture.
- Ensure the presence of blues music in media, education and all kinds of social activities and cultural entertainment.
- Make discover and initiate in the blues music to potential new lovers.
- Work together with the “Fons de Blues” (Blues Documentary Fonds) of Tecla Sala Library in Hospitalet de Llobregat, to make grow the legacy of that documentary center specialized in African-American black music. The Library has a wide and exclusive record, book and photo collection available to all researchers (Biblioteca Tecla Sala, Avda. Josep Tarradellas, 44. 08901 Hospitalet de Llobregat).
- Promote and, if applicable, organize concerts, festivals, photo exhibits, conferences, jam-sessions and all kinds of musical and cultural events related to the blues.
- Organize workshops, seminars and other activities related to the knowledge of the blues.
- Encourage networking and synergies between the organizations that support the blues musical scene.
If you are a musician, music educator, concert or cultural events promoter, journalist, media professional, blues lover or blues follower, you are welcomed as a member of the SBB, for a fee of only 30 euros per year.
If you are interested in the blues world and are willing to join the SBB you will always find the doors open.
All members can send their proposals, ideas and suggestions to info@societatbluesbarcelona.org and attend the General Assemblies to be yearly informed of the association management.
