The Fons de Blues (Blues Funds) of the Tecla Sala Library has received a very important donation from the relatives of Mr. Hugh Lynch who passed away on November 1, 2016 at the Center Fòrum-Parc de Salut Mar in Barcelona, after receiving a music therapy treatment based on the blues, the music that most loved Mr. Lynch. Born in Scotland, Hugh Lynch entered at the hosptital on October 16, 2016 when he was 61, after living 20 years in Barcelona working as an English teacher. The doctors of the Center describe him as a kind and sensitive person, wanting to enjoy, learn and experience until the last moment. His books and music legacy was given to the Center as a gift of gratitude for the Music Therapy Program received, an initiative of Dr. Josep Planas and Mrs. Nuria Escudé. Music therapist Jordi Mercadé accompanied and assisted Hugh Lynch to the sessions he received. The Center decided to contact the Barcelona Blues Society (SBB) (thanks to the efforts of the social worker Txell Fité) to give all the material to their Blues Funds to be shared with all the people, thinking that this decision would have pleased to Mr. Lynch. On November 16, 2016, Miguel Abella and Big Mama Montse, on behalf of the SBB, went to collect 3 boxes full of documents, including 350 discs (150 blues) and 50 books, and took them to the Tecla Sala Library in L´Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona-Spain) where the Blues Funds are located. Soon all the material will be cataloged and available to the public thanks to the diligence of the staff working in the library. It is expected that by the end of January-beginning of February an exhibition may be held to show the importance of this donation. Both the SBB, Tecla Sala and the European Blues Union (since the Fons de Blues is also the European Blues Funds since 2012) and the City Hall of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, expressly thank the two sisters of Mr. Hugh Lynch , Mima and Cormie, for having given this magnificent legacy that enriches the blues culture and gives it greatness. Many thanks also to the professionals of the Center Fòrum-Parc de Salut Mar for all the humanitarian work they are doing and for having contacted the SBB. And thanks to the staff of Tecla Sala and Miquel Abella for the enthusiasm and the efforts to be able to soon put all the documents available to the users of the library.
