The Barcelona Blues Society’s Annual Party is ready!!!
¡¡And we will celebrate it with some very fine blues musicians and blues dancers!!
The act will start with an introductory session to the BLUES DANCE offered by GEM ANTOJA and MIGUEL A. CRUZ where everybody will be able to enjoy their open class. The evening will continue with a choreography by the BLUES SHAKERS that they have prepared to encourage everyone to dance, inviting the public to move the body to the rhythm of the blues.
The concert will start with the prodigious voice of DONALD RAY JOHNSON, who was awarded with the Grammy Award in 1978. This great artist who also is a terrific drummer has performed with many of the biggest names in blues, touring with Big Mama Thornton, Philip Walker, Smokey Wilson, etc. He was born in Texas and his training was forged in the church, where he learned the basics of his vocal style and rhythm beat. Currently he resides in Calgary, Canada, and has been nominated several times for the Maple Blues Award awarded by the Toronto Blues Society. He also was voted as the Best Male Vocalist by Real Blues magazine Magazine 2007.
Having the presence of Donald Ray Johnson was due thanks to the complicity of the French musician who accompanies him for over twelve years, the guitarist GASPARD OSSIKIAN, who with his band Gas Blues Band acted in the European Blues Challenge 2016. We’ll have them both with us and also they will tour France acting on important festivals such as Nice, Beziers, Pezenas or Annezy Jazz Festival.
Both artists will play with BERNAT FONT on piano, TÒFOL MARTÍNEZ on bass, MARTÍ ELÍAS on drums, and VÍCTOR PUERTAS on the harmonicas.
At the end of the concert, 3 DVDs of MÉMOIRE DE BLUES will be raffled between the attending people and there will also be the BIG BILL BROONZY AWARD CERIMONY.
The party will end with a final JAM SESSION, we hope that both for musicians and dancers!
